There is so much more to do in our surrounding area than just dive. Here is a short list of places to see and events going on in our area.


Beaufort Historical Tour - Walking tour of selected homes and gardens in Beaufort (North Carolina's third oldest town), which date back to the 1600's. For those who like to ride you can tour Beaufort aboard an authentic English double decker bus. Within easy walking distance of Discovery Diving Company.

North Carolina Maritime Museum - Large museum containing artifacts, books, historical items on display citing Beaufort's historical sailing tradition. Click here to go to their calendar of events.  Within easy walking distance of Discovery Diving Company.

Fort Macon State Park - 160 acre state park with the center of attraction being the historical civil war fort which guarded the entrance to Beaufort and Morehead City. Fort Macon contains a civil war artifact museum, a walking tour and re-enactment's of battles during the summer months.

North Carolina Aquarium/Pine Knoll Shores - The aquarium is located 20 minutes from Discovery Diving and houses many interesting exhibits. Included among these exhibits are The Living Shipwreck, a live Alligator exhibit, and a touch tank.

Cape Lookout National Seashore - A barrier island system comprising the southern portion of the famed Outer Banks. Fifty - eight miles of undisturbed beach await hikers and fisherman alike. Access is by boat or ferry only. There is a ferry service located along Front Street in Beaufort.

New Bern - New Bern is the second oldest town in North Carolina and is located about 45 minutes from Discovery Diving. It was founded in 1710, and was named after its mother city, Bern, Switzerland. New Bern is best known for its historic district, which includes the Royal Governor William Tryon's mansion, Tryon Palace.
